Blood-stained church pews still bear witness to the carnage that took place in and around Angoville-au-Plain, France, from June 6-8, 1944. Medics Robert Wright Sr. and Kenneth Moore of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment turned the church in Angoville-au-Plain into a makeshift casualty collection point and managed to provide first aid to some 80 American and German soldiers, as well as a local child, all the while keeping the church off limits to military action.
