Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Markell K. Jones, from Washington, uses the 1 Main Circuit (1MC) on the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) to greet the Military Sealift Command dry cargo/ammunition ship USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11) during a vertical replenishment. Dewey is on deployment with the Carl Vinson Strike Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting Valiant Shield. Valiant Shield is a U.S.–only biennial exercise in which participation will focus on the integration of joint training among U.S. forces.
