Janis Svilpe at the Joint Force Headquarters in Lansing, Mich., Oct. 16, 2014. Svilpe was selected to escort Latvian National Guard Soldier Pvt. Luize Priedite (in center) who earned the opportunity to visit United States military installations when she was selected as the top competitor in a "best ranger" type of event held in Latvia earlier this summer. The event was televised throughout Latvia as a promotional and recruitment incentive for the Latvian National Guard.
