Exterior view of the old PCC Commissary in Balboa, Panama, located on the opposite side of the Prado from the PCC Administration building. It was a Panama Canal Company [PCC] "gold" and "silver" commissary in 1914-15; in 1977, as a result of the Carter-Torrejos treaty, it was transferred to the U.S. Army Troop Support Agency (TSA). It had been described in a 1935 Guide to Army Posts: "The Canal Commissary at Balboa is one of the largest and most complete stores in the world." It sat between a dispensary to the east partially visible to the right) and a theater to the southwest (not visible in this shot, but it was to the left). This 1921 view is much the same as shots taken by DeCA Historian Pete Skirbunt in 1999. Balboa Hill is in the background to the left.
