Camp Normoyle, Texas, commissary exterior, 1943. The store was placed inside a warehouse. This warehouse still existed as late as September 2006, and photos of that building are available in the photofile under "East Kelly." The signs reflect, perhaps, the fact that Normoyle was being transferred from the Army's Quartermaster to the Army Air Forces; one sign says "Post Commissary" (the QM nomenclature) and the other says "Base Commissary Sales" (the AAF's wording). The building number is 259; later it became 4259; later still, it became 3448 when Kelly AFB took over the area.
