161531-N-KH151-138 TOKYO BAY (May 31, 2016) Quartermaster 3rd Class Belizaire Beyanka, from Palm Bay, Florida, uses a telescopic alidade to scan the waters for navigational aides around the Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) as it departs Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka. Navigational aides are landmarks used to ensure the ship is on the correct course by comparing the ship's relative location to the landmark. Ronald Reagan provides a combat-ready force, which protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
