U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec.10, 2016) A U.S. Marine with Company B, Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines (BLT 1/4), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), rushes from cover during an amphibious assault rehearsal as part of Exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 10. During the amphibious assault rehearsal, the Marines practiced dismounting amphibious assault vehicles (AAV) and storming a beachhead while providing suppressive fire to downrange targets. During the exercise, Marines with BLT 1/4 work to refine and rehearse their ability to conduct amphibious and land-based skills to include: helo-borne raids, amphibious assaults, combat marksmanship, and other offensive tactical skills. Exercise Alligator Dagger maintains amphibious readiness within Amphibious Ready Groups and MEUs to ensure U.S. forces are ready to respond to any emerging crises. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl.
