F Co., 131st Aviation mechanic Spc. Chris Linke, of Seattle, Washington, , considers himself pretty young to be called a veteran but thats what he will be when he returns home after serving for nearly one year in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. Linke is repairing a leaky starter in an engine belonging to one of 14 Chinooks the 131st is responsible for repairing, maintaining and flying. The Chinooks, located at Kandahar Air Field, are heavily depended on by troops at forward operating bases for transport and supplies. Linke will be returning home with his unit this spring and plans to return to college to become an art teacher.
