PACIFIC OCEAN, Calif., – Col. Joseph Clearfield, commanding officer of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, addresses the Marines and Sailors of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit in the well deck of USS San Diego (LPD-22), April 7, 2017 about the importance of their role in the MEU’s upcoming deployment later this year. This first at-sea exercise, PHIBRON-MEU Integration, provides the Marines the opportunity to practice integrating with their Navy counterparts to form an efficient team capable of accomplishing a range of missions around the globe. This Navy-Marine Corps team supports combatant commanders in maintaining regional maritime security and stability while providing offshore options to deter, influence and wine in an era of uncertainty.
