CAMP BEUHRING, KUWAIT (April 11, 2017)— “I used to work a concrete job with my uncle Kevin, and he hated it,” said Pfc. Ken Sicard, a rifleman assigned to Lima Co., 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. “He said ‘I’ll work ‘till I’m dead to get my kids through college.’” When Kevin died, Sicard felt compelled to help see his uncle’s wishes fulfilled, and joined the Marine Corps."I chose the infantry” the Salem, New Hampshire native said. Now he puts a portion of every paycheck he earns in a savings account for Kevin’s three kids for college. It’s Sicard’s way of honoring his uncle.
