DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (March 20, 2017) A U.S. Navy sailor with the USS Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (MKI ARG), looks at items in a local souvenir shop during a Dubai’s Modern City tour as part of a port visit, March 20. After a brief demonstration on how Persian rugs and gold weave rugs are made, the Marines and Sailors were afforded the opportunity to purchase souvenirs. While deployed, the Marines and Sailors with the MKI ARG/11th MEU are given the opportunity to partake in tours and activities provided by the ship’s Moral, Welfare, and Recreation program.
