Airman Apprentice Gary L. McGregor, an aviation boatswain’s mate (fuel) from Bradenton, Fla., takes a fuel sample aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) during an opposed replenishment at sea with the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Yukon (T-AO 202). Fuel samples are taken to make sure the fuel received is clean. Ships conduct an opposed RAS to practice completing replenishments at sea in a wartime scenario with other ships in the same carrier strike group providing perimeter protection. Ronald Reagan and Yukon performed the opposed RAS as part of a Composite Training Unit Exercise. Ronald Reagan is currently underway preparing for an upcoming deployment. (Photo by: Seaman Mikesa R.
