170801-N-NP779-074 WESTPORT, Wash.- (Aug. 1, 2017) Seaman Jerome Tandog, assigned to Beach Master Unit 1, directs the offloading of emergency-response vehicles from Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1630 at a landing ramp at Westport, Wash., during a Defense Support of Civil Authority (DSCA) demonstration Tuesday. The DSCA exercise is a joint effort between local emergency responders, the National Guard and the U.S. Navy, is held in conjunction with Seattle Seafair Fleet Week and is designed to simulate domestic response efforts, across all levels of government, to a catastrophic disaster.
