170731-N-NP779-060 NEWPORT, Ore.- (July 31, 2017) Sailors assigned to Landing Craft, Utility (LCU) 1630, deployed from the USS Anchorage, deploy motorized vehicles and simulated supplies over a landing ramp at Newport, Oregon during a Defense Support of Civil Authority (DSCA) demonstration Monday. The DSCA exercise is a joint effort between local emergency responders, the National Guard and the U.S. Navy, designed to simulate domestic response efforts, across all levels of government, to a catastrophic disaster.
