A military family member of the four-legged type receives a much-appreciated scratch on the head from Technical Sgt. Mike Orr, of the 60th Communication Squadron at Travis Air Force Base, Calif. The dog and his owner arrived at Travis on March 25 from Japan, following the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11. Hundreds of family members from military bases in Japan voluntarily relocated to the United States after radiation from crippled Japanese nuclear energy plants was detected in some areas. The evacuation effort was part of Operation Pacific Passage.
