Spc. Tom May of the 815th Engineer Company, Detachment 2, based in Lisbon, N.D., sits on a pile of flood-fighting sandbags loaded in a North Dakota National Guard 5-ton dump truck April 10, as he rushes into a rural residence surrounded by flood water with a quick response force team just west of West Fargo, N.D. The dump truck is one of the few vehicles that can make it through the, nearly two miles of flooded roadway, to bring sandbags for the farmstead surrounded by flood water. About 500 Guardsmen are currently conducting flood operations in North Dakota, with the vast majority in Cass County.
