Spc. Richard Washington, a UH-60L Black Hawk helicopter crew chief, uses the portable helicopter oxygen delivery system, which delivers oxygen through the nostrils, while flying in the mountains just west of Fort Carson, Colo., April 12. The system helps the pilots and crew members to combat the thinner air and effects it could have on their physical and mental abilities at higher altitudes. As the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade prepares to deploy to Afghanistan late this summer, the brigade began its high altitude mountain environmental training in early April at Fort Carson's Butts Army Airfield and will continue the training until mid June. Washington, of Fayetteville, N.C., serves with Task Force Talon, 3rd General Support Aviation Battalion, 82nd CAB.
