CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, Japan – Sgt. John Fruin briefs Special Reaction Team Marines after an SRT Special Effects Small Arms Marking System Tactic Based Training range Nov. 22 at Combat Town, Okinawa, Japan. Fruin uses SESAMS ranges to instill confidence in his Marines and tests their ability to make timely decisions under pressure. Each Marine practiced weapons handling and employment of firearms while moving through and clearing out buildings. SESAM rounds have plastic paste-filled tips that leave a mark where they hit, allowing SRT Marines and their supervisors to track their accuracy. Fruin is the SRT leader with the Provost Marshal’s Office, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Japan.
