SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii – Spc. Logan Mattix (Left), a CH-47 Chinook crew chief with the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Gregory Benson (Right), an Airdrop Systems Technician with the 25th Sustainment Brigade, prepare a rigged low cost low altitude (LCLA) load to be dropped at Kahuku Training Area December 12, during an air delivery exercise. The LCLA delivery method is used to resupply on-ground troops at less of cost and higher accuracy than a high altitude airdrop making it the preferred method for light-weight supplies.
