MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – A Soldier with the Western Army Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, prepares to drive his Amphibious Assault Vehicle into the waters off the shores of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton during amphibious training during exercise Iron Fist 2018, Jan. 18. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral amphibious training exercise designed to improve USMC and JGSDF’s ability to plan, communicate and conduct combined amphibious operations at the platoon, company and battalion levels.
