MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Soldiers with the Western Army Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, listens as a U.S. Marine with 3D Assault Amphibian Battalion, describes the scheme of maneuver the Soldiers and Marines will use when conducting amphibious training in the Amphibious Assault vehicles during exercise Iron Fist 2018 at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Jan. 18. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral amphibious training exercise designed to improve USMC and JGSDF’s ability to plan, communicate and conduct combined amphibious operations at the platoon, company and battalion levels.
