MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – U.S. Marines with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion and Soldiers with the Western Army Infantry Regiment, Japan Ground Self Defense Force, prepare to move their combat rubber raiding craft into a waiting CH-53 Super Stallion during helocast training during exercise Iron Fist 2018. Moving the heavy CRRCs requires seven to nine personnel to move the craft with one person in the rear of the craft dedicated to lifting using the engine. Capable maritime forces help ensure stability and prosperity around the world, and bilateral exercises, like Iron Fist, help partner nations improve their own maritime capability.
