MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Two Landing Craft Air Cushion, with Assault Craft Unit 5, land on San Clemente Island to offload Marines and Japan Ground Self Defense Force Soldiers during exercise Iron Fist 2018, Jan. 29. LCACs were used to provide transportation for Marines and JGSDF Soldiers from the USS Rushmore (LSD-47) to shore in an expedient manner. Exercise Iron Fist is an annual bilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together and share technique, tactics and procedures to improve their combined operational capabilities.
