The Aisne-Marne Memorial, located southwest of the village of Belleau, France, was built by the American Battle Monuments Commission to commemorate the 1,060 departed who were never found or identified. The Marines camped out June 6 on a hillside behind the memorial, overlooking the 42-acre Aisne-Marne Cemetery and Memorial.
