U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (April 24, 2018) A Sailor assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) directs an MV-22 Osprey, attached to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 162 reinforced, as it lands on the flight deck of the ship April 24, 2018. Iwo Jima, homeported in Mayport, Fla., is on a regularly scheduled deployment to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners, and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
