SASEBO, Japan (Apr. 25, 2018) Sasebo City archeologist Atsushi Kawachino makes notes during the turnover of three early 20th century Imperial Japanese navy coal briquettes to Sasebo City by Fleet Activities (FLEACT) Sasebo. The rare briquettes were fuel for naval vessels and were manufactured by the Tokuyama naval fuel depot in Yamaguchi Prefecture. These were dredged up in FLEACT Sasebo waters during an environmental resources survey conducted in February and turned over to Sasebo City for curation and display.
