Shannon Baird (center), a performance enhancement specialist with the Comprehensive Soldier Fitness-Performance and Resilience Enhancement Program on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., listens attentively to every detail as Sgt. Michael Davis, a human intelligence collector with Company B, 109th Military Intelligence Battalion, gives the members of his company a short pre-execution class Aug. 10 on countering improvised explosive devices during convoy movement as part of a 10-day field training exercise to prepare the battalion for its upcoming deployment within the next year. Baird, who has worked for the past six months with Davis's company to assist in increasing the performance of its soldiers and their methods “both mentally and physically" for preparing themselves for any task, spent each day in the field with the company prepping it for each training task the night before.
