Shannon Baird, a performance enhancement specialist with the Comprehensive Soldier Fitness-Performance and Resilience Enhancement Program on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., takes notes while speaking with Staff Sgt. Domingo Martinez, the operations management team non-commissioned officer in charge for Company B, 109th Military Intelligence Battalion, Aug. 10 after a counter-improvised explosive device class for his company that was part of a 10-day field training exercise to prepare the battalion for its upcoming deployment within the next year. Baird, who has worked for the past six months with Martinez's company to assist in increasing the performance of its soldiers and their methods “ both mentally and physically" for preparing themselves for any task, spent each day in the field with the company prepping it for each training task the night before.
