U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Aaron Boone, a 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division battalion sergeant major, reads a citation to the battalion for a Memorial Day ceremony during a deployment for training (DFT) exercise at Fort Stewart, Ga., May 28, 2018. The ceremony acknowledged the sacrifices of services members of the battalion and those within the Department of Defense. The DFT is to maintain proficiency in landing the surface assault element during amphibious operations to inland objectives and with conducting mechanized operations and related combat support in operations ashore.
