Sgt. Daniel Roberts with the 115th Regional Support Group, based out of Roseville, Calif., calls in a 9-line medevac during the Best Warrior’s Competition at Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif., Sept. 12, 2011. The first day of the week-long event had the nine competitors from across the state running an Army Physical Fitness Test, conducting weapons-related warrior tasks and conducting lanes, which included calling in reports, reacting to direct and indirect fire, performing first aid, engaging the enemy, clearing a building and calling in a medevac. “To me it’s better than a stationary, round-robin type of event because this will gauge the Soldiers cognitive and physical skills as they go through the entire event,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Rob Whittle, the command sergeant major of the 223rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute.
