Staff Sgt. Craig Tomlinson of Oceano, Calif., a military police instructor with 1st Battalion, 223rd Regional Training Institute, struggles while climbing a rope during a lengthy obstacle course at Camp San Luis Obispo, Calif., Sept. 15 during the Best Warrior Competition. The week-long competition was designed to find the best overall warrior from across the state based on a series of carefully designed events. “This competition is truly demanding. It requires a 110 percent dedication, not only physically, which it’s very taxing, but mentally, because you have to strategize,” said Tomlinson.
