U.S. Marines with 1st Marine Air Wing (MAW), 3rd MAW and 4th MAW load mobile facilities utilizing ship cranes and forklifts aboard the SS Curtiss August 29, 2018, in preperation for Valiant Shield. Valiant Shield is a biennial, U.S.-only field training exercise (FTX) with a focus on integration of joint training among U.S. forces in relation to current operational plans. This training enables real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces through detecting, location, tracking, and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land, and cyberspace in response to a range of mission areas.
