Lt. Col Rob Bates, a UH-1N Iroquois helicopter pilot with the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773, adjusts aerial instruments during a Joint Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel exercise Oct. 15 here. The Joint TRAP exercise tested the reservists’ ability to recover downed aircrew members from behind enemy lines. Crew chiefs aboard this helicopter provided cover fire so the downed Marine aircrews could be rescued. Bates is a Dover, Del., native.
