A soldier from the 149th Chemical Company from the California National Guard readies equipment for his unit to set up decontamination tents at the old Phoenix Fire Training Academy during Vigilant Guard here, Nov. 3. Vigilant Guard is an exercise to train, test and evaluate the preparedness of state and federal agencies in the event of an emergency Oct. 31- Nov. 7. The Vigilant Guard scenario comprises simulated flooding that is followed by one of the largest simulated improvised nuclear device detonation in the United States history. The 149th Chemical Company arrived in nearly a dozen trucks with trailers attached, filled with the equipment needed to decontaminate role-play victims.
