    Army Maj. Gen. Clement Alexander Finley Flagler, commander of the 42nd Division after arriving in Ahrweiler, Germany for occupation duties, December 16, 1918. The 42nd Division, known as the Rainbow Division for its inclusion of various National Guard units from across the United States, served as an occupation force following the armistice that ended World War I.
