Iowa Air National Guard Master Sgt. Dayrl Newman and Airman 1st Class Mark Van Voorst, 185th Air Refueling Wing Repair and Reclamation shop remove the straps that were used to hoist the tail fin of a U.S. Air Force KC-135 at the unit’s main hangar in Sioux City, Iowa on March 22, 2019. Because of structural damage to the aircraft’s rudder, the tail needed to be removed in order to install a new rudder. The rare operation is a first for the 185th maintenance group in Sioux City since becoming a tanker unit in 2003.
