U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Romarion Ferguson-Coleman inspects the serial numbers of a Humvee aboard the U.S.N.S Pililaau (TAKR-304), March 19, 2019. The Marines are preparing and inspecting equipment that will be utilized during the maritime prepositioning force (MPF) offload for Exercise Balikatan 2019. Balikatan is a Tagalog phrase that means “shoulder-to-shoulder” and is an annual exercise between the U.S. military and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Throughout the MPF offload the Marines keep track of the equipment coming on and off the ship. The Pililaau is a Marine Corps MPF ship used to deliver Marine assets to areas in the Indo-Pacific region.
