Andrew Black offloads a 7-Ton off the U.S.N.S Pililaau (TAKR-304) during a maritime prepositioning force (MPF) offload for Exercise Balikatan, March 22, 2019, at Subic Bay International Airport, Republic of the Philippines. MPF offloads provide the Marines Corps the ability to distribute equipment and assets to service members in deployed environments through the Indo-Pacific region at a moment’s notice. Balikatan is a Tagalog phrase that means “shoulder-to-shoulder” and is an annual exercise between the U.S. military and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
