190527-M-HB658-0033 PACIFIC OCEAN (May 27, 2019) U.S. Marines with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 (Reinforced), 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), run the vehicle ramps aboard the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS John P. Murtha (LPD 26), during a “Murph” workout of the day in honor of Memorial Day. Murph is a workout designed by Medal of Honor recipient, U.S. Navy Lt. Michael Murphy, comprised of a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats and ending with another one-mile run. The Marines and Sailors of the 11th MEU are deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to support regional stability, reassure partners and allies, and maintain a presence postured to respond to any crisis ranging from humanitarian assistance to contingency operations.
