JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (July 11, 2019) – Lt. Angela Jiatu, a pharmacist at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, counts tablets. Jiatu, a native of Dixhills, New York, received her Doctor of Pharmacy at Rutgers University. “We augment the healthcare team to optimize medication therapy that is patient-specific. We reduce medical errors by keeping medications safe. We improve health outcomes by counseling patients on how to take their medications. These are just a few ways that pharmacists make a difference. This is why I get out of bed every morning.” Since 1947, the Medical Service Corps has led from the front in clinical, scientific, and administrative specialties, while supporting the mission of Navy Medicine across the fleet.
