JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (July 12, 2019) – Lt. Robert Scherl, an emergency medicine physician assistant at Naval Hospital Jacksonville’s emergency department, performs a musculoskeletal exam on retired Air Force Tech. Sgt. Charles Jones. Scherl, a native of Minden, Nevada, earned his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from New York Institute of Technology. “I came into the Navy as a Medical Service Corps officer in order to provide care to sailors, Marines, retirees, and their families. Specializing in emergency medicine allows me to see the full spectrum of patients; from life-threatening emergencies to those with day-to-day medical concerns.” Medical Service Corps officers have continuously served sailors and Marines, in times of war and peace, since Aug. 4, 1947.
