Lance Cpl. Hector M. Solis, a cannonier with 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, shows Sandra L. Groza, a military spouse from San Diego, how to adjust the elevation of the M777A2 lightweight howitzer during a military immersion event for family and friends of Marines here, April 21. Solis, a 20-year-old native of Fort Worth, Texas, volunteered to help for the event. The artillery Marines of 5th Bn., 11th Marines, hosted “Jane Wayne Day,” an event which allows loved ones to participate in military training and gain a better understanding of their Marines’ jobs. Guests completed a portion of the Combat Fitness Test, learned martial arts moves, fired the M4 assault rifle, examined artillery weapon systems and witnessed live-fire demonstrations with machine guns and rocket launches.
