Pamela Keyes (right) and family say farewell to former Army Sgt. Robert Hale, at military honors funeral in St. Louis on September 14, 2019. Mr. Hale served in the 101st Airborne Division in WWII. He made the jump on D-Day, and fought at Market Garden, and Bastogne. He was wounded twice before finally returning home. Humble and quiet about his war-time service, he became a painting contractor and raised a family. Hale's grandson, Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Timothy Keyes (left), presented Hale's folded American flag to his mother. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class John Freese)
