In a military honors funeral for his grandfather, Robert Hale, Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Timothy Keyes presented the folded American flag to his mother, Pamela Keyes, on September 14, 2019, in St. Louis. Hale served in the 101st Airborne Division in WWII. He made the jump on D-Day, and fought at Market Garden, and Bastogne. He was wounded twice before finally returning home. Humble and quiet about his war-time service, he became a painting contractor and raised a family. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class John Freese)
