NAVAL SUPPORT FACILITY REDZIKOWO, Poland (Sept. 29, 2019) – Cmdr. Joshua Lewis, right, commander of Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System (AAMDS) Poland, discusses manning of the AAMDS site with Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.), left, during a visit on Sept. 29, 2019. Garamendi led a six-member bipartisan congressional delegation to visit Naval Support Facility (NSF) Redzikowo and the AAMDS site to gain a better understanding about the Aegis Ashore mission, partnerships with the surrounding community and how Sailors like being stationed in Poland. Once construction is completed, the Aegis Ashore site in Poland will expand a defensive capability that protects NATO European territories, populations and forces against ballistic missiles launched from outside the Euro-Atlantic region.
