NAVAL SUPPORT FACILITY REDZIKOWO, Poland (Sept. 29, 2019) – Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.), left, shares her initial thoughts and feedback after a tour of Naval Support Facility (NSF) Redzikowo by a U.S. congressional delegation on Sept. 29, 2019. Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.), center, led the six-member bipartisan delegation to visit NSF Redzikowo and the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System (AAMDS) in order to learn more about the Aegis Ashore mission and gain a better understanding about the partnerships with the surrounding community. The delegation received updates on construction and overall mission requirements from project leaders Justin Weatherwax of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, second from left; Aegis Combat System program manager Capt. Todd Boehm, third from right; Capt. Jon Grant, commanding officer of NSF Redzikowo, second from right; and Cmdr. Joshua Lewis, commander of AAMDS. Once construction is completed, the Aegis Ashore site in Poland will expand a defensive capability that protects NATO European territories, populations and forces against ballistic missiles launched from outside the Euro-Atlantic region.
