NAVAL SUPPORT FACILITY REDZIKOWO, Poland (Sept. 29, 2019) – Capt. Jon Grant, fourth from left, commanding officer of Naval Support Facility (NSF) Redzikowo, hosted a six-member U.S. congressional delegation to the Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System (AAMDS) site at Redzikowo on Sept. 29, 2019. The bipartisan delegation, led by Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.), visited Redzikowo to learn more about the Aegis Ashore mission and gain a better understanding about the installation’s partnerships with the surrounding community. Grant led the group on a walking tour through the multipurpose facility and operations center, which are still under construction but nearing the final finishing stages. Once construction is completed, the Aegis Ashore site in Poland will expand a defensive capability that protects NATO European territories, populations and forces against ballistic missiles launched from outside the Euro-Atlantic region. Joining Garamendi on the visit, from left, were Resident Commissioner Jenniffer Gonzalez Colon (R-Puerto Rico), Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.), Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.), Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-Iowa) and Rep. Thomas O’Halleran (D-Ariz.). (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Amy Forsythe, Public Affairs Officer, Naval Support Facility Redzikowo)
