The launch site of America’s first satellite, Launch Complex 26, is a dual pad blockhouse with two-foot thick walls and an eight-foot thick ceiling. Construction of LC-26 began in 1956 to support the U.S. Army's Redstone, Jupiter and Juno launch programs; and now the complex serves as a museum archiving 60-year-old space launch hardware.
