Cpl. Jonathan Vargas, an engineer equipment mechanic, 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, receives the Marine Corps Engineer Associations Engineer Equipment Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year award from Brig. Gen. Bobbi Shea, Commanding General of the 1st MLG, at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Aug. 20, 2020. This award is presented annually to an engineer equipment NCO who exceeds expectations within their field. Cpl. Vargas, while serving as platoon sergeant, played a vital role in the construction of over a mile of road in the challenging terrain at Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, California.
