Ecuadorian army soldiers from the Demining Command in General Marco Aurelio Subian Martinez military fort at La Balvina Quito, Ecuador, test a laser range finder during a Humanitarian Demining Subject Matter Expert Exchange in Quito, Ecuador on July 31, 2012. US Army soldiers introduced the use of the laser range finder to the Ecuadorian soldiers to safely calculate distance on a minefield and minimize injuries. U.S. Army South deployed a team of soldiers to Ecuador for a two-week long course as part of the Subject Matter Expert Exchange program sponsored by USSOUTHCOM in which they exchange techniques and ideas to improve their workflow and knowledge.
